SECOND HAND SHOPS

  1. The term ‘fast fashion’ is often defined as “an approach to the design, creation, and marketing of clothing fashions that emphasizes making fashion trends quickly and cheaply available to consumers.” The industry is responsible for high carbon emissions, wastewater production, and large amounts of landfill waste.

  2. According to NPR records, fast fashion industry produces 15.1 million tons of waste a year. Second to oil, the clothing and textile industry is the largest polluter in the world. 20,000 liters is the amount of water needed to produce one kilogram of cotton. Nearly 20% of the global waste is produced by the fashion industry.

  3. A great way to reduce the waste is to buy clothes from thrift shops. Second hand clothes get used by a new person for a few more years, and this extends the lifespan of the garment.

  4. Also, if we wanted to throw out our unused clothes, don't do that, just bring it to a thrift shop, so other people can purchase it. It's not only good for the environment, some shops pay for the clothes, or you can choose other ones in exchange.
